The goal of this site is not only to teach definitions, but also to explain the core meanings, nuance, feeling, and cultural background behind Japanese expressions.
About the Author
Hi, I’m Tanaka, a native Japanese speaker from Kanagawa, Japan.
I studied Engineering through graduate school and have always been interested in language learning and communication.
For six years, I worked as a tutor teaching Japanese and English to middle school and high school students.
Currently, I work at a major Japanese manufacturer and regularly communicate with people from different countries through my job.
Through conversations with Japanese learners and foreigners, I realized that many people struggle with “textbook Japanese” and want to learn expressions that are actually used naturally by native speakers.
That experience inspired me to create this website.
